A derby in the Jupiler League today sees 2nd place Eindhoven battle it out with 12th place PSV reserves. The visitors come into this game off a big win over Twente reserves last time out, they will be full of confidence, and should go all out to beat their rivals today, leaving themselves open at the back. Eindhoven are scoring over 2 goals per game on average at home, 8 of the last 10 ending this way. The PSV youth side have lost their last 4 games in a row on the road, conceding 2 in the last 3. The most recent meeting between these two ended in a 3-1 away win to Eindhoven, a similar result today seems likely.
7th place Heerenveen will look continue their solid form today as they travel to bottom place Dordrecht, a win for the visitors will see them gain ground on the top 6 and considering they head into this off a stunning 4-1 win over Vitesse, we have to side with Heerenveen today. Dordrecht picked up what was just this second win of the season so far last time out against Excelsior, it’s important to note however that their opponents will have rested most key players in this game, ahead of their very important Cup fixture with Roda, one which they won comfortably. Dordrecht kept their first clean sheet in 15 home fixtures last time out and we feel they are unlikely to do so again against the free-scoring visitors today.
Hosts Emmen may be the highest scoring team in the division; their 5th place however shows how lacklustre they can be in defence. Their last 20 fixtures in a row have ended with over 2.5 goals, 14 of these seeing both them and their opponents get on the score-sheet. VVV have lost just 1 of their last 5 fixtures within the league, solid form by their standards, they picked up a 3-0 win over 19th place MVV last time out and while this isn’t a major feat, it proves they can score goals and will boosted their confidence ahead of a very tough fixture. 5 of the last 6 meetings between these sides have contained over 2.5 goals; a similar result today seems very likely.
Volendam are very much the go-to team within the Eerste Divisie this season, 3 deferats in recent weeks has seen them drop down the table into 4th but a win here today could see them rise as high as 2nd. Sparta Rotterdam are going through something of a revival right now, 8 games without a defeat has led to them climbing up the table, 9 goals in 3 games sees them head into today’s fixture in free-scoring mode, and we would not be surprised to see them net against a Volendam side who have been a little leaky at the back from time to time. Volendam netted 5 away to Sparta in their last meeting, if the visitors fail to show up today we can see another thrashing on the cards.
Bournemouth need to get back on track today following what has been a bad January, defeats to Norwich and Leeds have left the Cherries level on points with 2nd place Derby and just 1 clear of both Middlesbrough and Ipswich, their FA Cup exit at the weekend will not be frowned upon. 6th place Watford are in stunning form, this incredible comeback against Blackpool saw them 2 down at the break, only to score 7 in the remaining 45, a result which makes it 12 scored in just 2 games! Just 1 of Watford’s last 10 away games saw them fail to get on the score-sheet, they have also scored past Bournemouth in all of the last 6 meetings between the sides. Defensive errors are costing Bournemouth in recent weeks, 3 defeats from 5 in all competitions sees them needing a vital win here, we just don’t see them keeping a dominant Watford side at bay for 90 minutes.
A huge game in Germany today as 1st place Bayern Munich travel to 2nd place Wolfsburg, goals look to be on the menu and we expect Bayern to kick back in strong. The visitors are easily averaging over 2 goals per game so far this season, they will still be without the injured Ribery today, but their star studded line-up of Robben, Muller, Gotze and Lewandowski can destroy any defense within the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg are just not set up to defend, and we feel this may be their downfall against the champions today. They have conceded in 5 of their last 6 home games, and have just faired terribly against Bayern in the past, 9 in a row have now been lost, 7 of these seeing the side from Munich net at least twice.
We tipped Angers to at least draw against Brest last time out, only to be knocked back by a 93rd minute winner for the visitors, we are not counting them out just yet, time they made it up to us. 19th place relegation strugglers Chateauroux have failed to win any of their last 9 league fixtures, even at home where most French sides hold out they are failing to see of even the weakest of sides. Angers have not lost any of the last 4 on the road, surprising for a French side to be strong on their travels. We need to look all the way back to 2010 (9 fixtures) to find the last time this tip would have failed, Angers straight up won 8 of these.
