Relegation Run In Part 2

On the 07th April I wrote this article Who Can Top The Premier League Drop & looked through the remaining fixtures for Norwich, Fulham, Cardiff and Sunderland. The team I thought could make it out only had 25 points at the time and were favorites for the drop sitting rock bottom. Sunderland have picked up the points I thought they would a little sooner than anticipated. With 2 home games remaining, I expected Sunderland to escape on the last day. Picking up away wins against Chelsea & Manchester United prior to this point were not even considered by any fan or punditry panel.

The one team who hasn’t performed as well as I thought they might is Fulham. A very dejected performance on Saturday allowed Stoke to take full advantage and confirm relegation with a 4-1 thumping.

With relegation all but confirmed for the Canaries, will they give their fans a performance to remember them by this Sunday on the final day at home to Arsenal? They didn’t leave much for the imagination against Chelsea in terms of attacking threat but defended superbly. Too little too late.

Cardiff just really never got going for me, they picked up a very late win against Manchester City which will go down as one of the season highlights for them but whenever I watched them they lacked the cutting edge to grind out a result. Failing to find the right man up front left a lot of holes for the midfield to fill. For me, Jordan Mutch gave a good account of him self and looks to be a player I could well see plying his trade in the Premier League very soon.
